Statement

I make digital paintings that move between landscape, atmosphere, and abstraction. My broader practice spans painting, photography, sculpture, collage, and printmaking. In these works, I bring an attention to line, color, and surface to the screen.

Landscape gives me a place to begin. A tree, a horizon, or a body of water can provide a structure that changes as I draw, layer, and revise. In works connected to the Berkshires, where I live, recognizable places meet passages of color and marks that loosen their outlines. I am interested in how an image can hold both a sense of place and the uncertainty of looking.

In the fields and atmospheric works, color carries more of that experience. Forms emerge and recede; light and space remain open. The abstract works bring these questions into sharper structures through lines, spirals, and radiating shapes. Across the three groups, I follow the relationship between a mark and the space around it.

Digital painting allows me to move between precision and erasure, flatness and depth, and immediate gesture and accumulated revision. I want the whole image to hold together at a distance while rewarding a closer look at its surface.
